RollinWild – Meerkats
In the latest installment of the popular RollinWild series i was responsible for lighting, shading and rendering. In addition to that, i did something which i wanted to do for quite some time: Playing around a bit with the .exr metadata possibilities. So analogue to my automatic render reconstruction, which was used successfully on that project too, i developed some scripts that would recreate the 3D scene in Nuke from the .exr metadata.
Things you could recreate at the click of a button where: The Alembic geometry analogue to the geo in your Maya scene, the textures and the lights. You could also recreate the camera, but that feature comes for free and you can find scripts to do that online. In the gallery you can find some pictures of how a comp would look like entirely recreated from metadata.
